The blog is back! Lexie visited Children's Hospital in Los Angeles in the end of December. She met with the opthalmalogist who recommended that we begin treatment with three exams under anesthesia with laser treatment. The exams will be 6-8 weeks apart, and after the third laser treatment the doctor will be able to tell if it has any effect on reattaching her retina. If the treatment is working, we will continue down that path. However, if Lexie's eye is not responding to the laser, we will discuss other options for treatment at that time which would most likely mean a number of surgeries. We have come to a standstill until we get situated with Medicaid, so treatment has not yet begun.
After 4 MONTHS of dealing with the Medicaid office, we received our request for additional information and submitted our final paperwork (hopefully!) last Monday. Children's LA will schedule Lexie for the next surgical day once the Medicaid is approved. We are hoping that this will be any day now, as her condition will only worsen the longer we have to wait.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to IVGID for the generous Christmas donations that were given to our family! We appreciate everything that this wonderful community has done for us. Thank you to everyone who continues to keep our family in your prayers and we can't thank you enough for everything you have done for us!
